Today is the Second Sunday of Lent, and our readings offer a reflection on the nature of God’s call and the trust within those who seek to follow Him.

Abraham’s call in the Book of Genesis is the image of a man leaving his homeland with nothing but promise. This asks us to imagine a life not by certainty, but by trust. Abraham steps away from security and releases what is familiar as he entrusts his future to God who reveals the path in time. This moment is not reckless, but it is rooted in a relationship with God. It is sustained by the assurance that God’s blessings are larger than one life and meant to extend outward to the entire world.

In the Second Letter to Timothy, that promised blessing deepens. The call is not earned, but instead, is given showing a holy life begins in divine grace made visible through Jesus Christ. 

Together, these readings invite a posture of courageous faith. They suggest a faithful response: to loosen our grip on control of knowing the next step all on our own, and to move forward in confidence that our lives are rooted in God’s enduring promise and lasting hope. 

May this season be an invitation to walk with quiet trust and assurance, allowing God’s faithful guidance to shape the journey ahead.  

Hoy es el Segundo Domingo de Cuaresma, y ​​nuestras lecturas ofrecen una reflexión sobre la naturaleza del llamado de Dios y la confianza en quienes buscan seguirlo.

El llamado de Abraham en el Libro del Génesis es la imagen de un hombre que deja su tierra natal con solo promesas. Esto nos invita a imaginar una vida no basada en la certeza, sino en la confianza. Abraham se aleja de la seguridad y se libera de lo familiar al confiar su futuro a Dios, quien revela el camino en el tiempo. Este momento no es imprudente, sino que está arraigado en una relación con Dios. Se sustenta en la certeza de que las bendiciones de Dios son más grandes que una sola vida y están destinadas a extenderse al mundo entero. 

En la Segunda Carta a Timoteo, esa bendición prometida se profundiza. El llamado no se gana, sino que se da, mostrando que una vida santa comienza en la gracia divina, visible a través de Jesucristo.

En conjunto, estas lecturas invitan a una postura de fe valiente. Sugieren una respuesta fiel: soltar el control de saber por nuestra cuenta cuál será el siguiente paso y avanzar con la confianza de que nuestras vidas están arraigadas en la promesa y la esperanza perdurables de Dios.

Que esta temporada sea una invitación a caminar con serena confianza y seguridad, permitiendo que la fiel guía de Dios moldee el camino que tenemos por delante.
